What is TS10 Chip?

The TS10 refers to a family of low-power operational amplifiers (op-amps) designed by STMicroelectronics, known for their ultra-low power consumption and wide supply voltage range. These op-amps are widely used in portable, battery-powered devices and sensor applications where minimizing power consumption is critical. The TS10 series is particularly useful in devices requiring long-term, continuous operation, such as wearable electronics, remote sensors, and IoT devices. The TS1001, TS1011, and TS1021 are examples of ICs within this series.

A key feature of the TS10 series is its ultra-low quiescent current—often as low as 900 nA per channel—which makes it highly efficient in power-sensitive applications. Despite its low power consumption, the TS10 series still provides a good balance of performance, offering a gain bandwidth product (GBP) of up to 10 kHz, which is suitable for low-speed signal amplification. The amplifiers in this family are optimized for use in applications where slow signal changes need to be measured or monitored, such as in temperature, pressure, and humidity sensors.

The input voltage range of the TS10 series extends to the negative rail (ground), making them rail-to-rail input amplifiers, and they offer a rail-to-rail output as well. This feature ensures that the op-amp can work with a wide range of signals even when operating at low supply voltages. The supply voltage range for the TS10 op-amps is typically between 1.5V and 5.5V, allowing them to operate in low-voltage systems, such as single-cell lithium-ion battery-powered devices. Their wide operating voltage range makes them versatile for various low-power applications, such as medical devices, energy meters, and environmental monitoring systems.

In terms of applications, the TS10 series is ideal for wearable electronicsportable medical devices, and battery-operated sensor interfaces. For example, in a fitness tracker or heart rate monitor, these op-amps can be used to amplify small sensor signals without draining the battery, ensuring the device lasts longer between charges. In IoT applications, the TS10 can be integrated into sensor nodes where energy efficiency is crucial for extended operation without frequent battery replacements.

The small form factor of the TS10 op-amps, often available in SOT-23 and other compact packages, makes them suitable for space-constrained designs. Their low power consumption, wide voltage range, and rail-to-rail performance combine to make the TS10 series a valuable choice for engineers working on power-sensitive designs that still require reliable signal processing capabilities.
