What is IR2103 Chip?

The IR2103 is a high- and low-side MOSFET driver designed by Infineon Technologies (formerly International Rectifier). It is used to drive N-channel MOSFETs in high-voltage power conversion applications, such as motor drives, DC-DC converters, and inverters

Key Features:

  • Dual MOSFET Driver: Drives both high-side and low-side MOSFETs in an H-bridge configuration.
  • High-Side Voltage Rating: Can handle high-side voltage up to 600V.
  • Strong Drive Capability: Capable of providing high peak current (up to 2A) for efficient switching.
  • Low-Side Output: Delivers 4A peak current to the low-side MOSFET.
  • Bootstrap Operation: Uses bootstrap capacitor for high-side driving, eliminating the need for a separate high-side power supply.

Applications:

  • Motor Drives: Commonly used in BLDC motors and stepper motor controllers.
  • Power Inverters: Suitable for solar inverters and UPS systems
  • DC-DC Converters: Drives MOSFETs in switching power supplies and voltage regulators.

The IR2103 is a reliable and efficient driver for high-side and low-side MOSFETs, enabling high-performance power control in various high-voltage applications.
