What is IR2111 Chip?

The IR2111 is a high- and low-side MOSFET driver from Infineon Technologies (formerly International Rectifier), designed for driving N-channel MOSFETs and IGBTs in power applications. It is particularly useful in high-voltage circuits such as motor drives, inverters, and DC-DC converters.

Key Features:

  • Dual MOSFET Driver: Capable of driving both high-side and low-side MOSFETs in an H-bridge or similar configuration.
  • High-Side Voltage: Supports high-side voltage up to 600V, making it suitable for industrial, automotive, and power supply applications.
  • Strong Drive Capability: Delivers 2A peak current for high-side and 4A for low-side MOSFETs, ensuring fast switching.
  • Bootstrap Operation: Uses a bootstrap capacitor to provide the necessary high-side voltage, eliminating the need for an additional power supply.
  • Low-Side Logic Compatibility: Fully compatible with TTL/CMOS logic, allowing for easy interfacing with microcontrollers or other digital devices.

Applications:

  • Motor Control: Commonly used in DC motorsBLDC motors, and stepper motor drivers.
  • Inverters: Ideal for solar invertersUPS systems, and AC motor control.
  • Power Conversion: Used in DC-DC converters and AC-DC power supplies.

The IR2111 is a versatile and robust driver suitable for high-voltage, high-power applications, providing efficient and reliable gate drive for MOSFETs or IGBTs in various industrial and consumer electronics.
